Fond Farewell to Chris Fastner

After more than 17 years with the Initiative Foundation, including three-plus years managing the Initiators Fellowship, I have decided to move on to a new chapter in my work life. This was a difficult and bittersweet decision for me. The Initiative Foundation is an amazing organization doing important and impactful work, and I am humbled and deeply grateful to have been able to contribute in my small way.

The Initiators Fellowship is a one-of-a-kind program that, through three cohorts, has delivered powerful results for nearly 20 early-stage social entrepreneurs. Like other roles I’ve held at the Foundation, this program has introduced me to many amazing people—Fellows, alumni, mentors, close advisors and supporters of all kinds. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to have met and worked with so many generous people who selflessly share their time and wisdom.

I’m also grateful knowing I leave this program in the skilled hands of Christine Metzo, incoming Initiators Fellowship program manager, and Brian Voerding, vice president for inclusive entrepreneurship. Both Christine and Brian receive guidance and support from the Initiators Fellowship Steering Team, which features representatives from the Initiative Foundation, the Southwest Initiative Foundation, Northwest Minnesota Foundation and West Central Initiative.

I hope our paths cross in the future as I continue to offer support to purpose-driven people and organizations in my new work as a consultant with True North Strategy. If you want to connect in the future, my new email is chris@truenorthstrategymn.com.
